With any problem we face, we are instructed to do three things:
1) Remember Allah SWT
2) Seek help from Allah SWT
3) Seek refuge from shaytan
Three simple steps that are easy to comprehend and often difficult to implement -- especially when overcome with anger. Because one who does not control their anger loses control of their mind. At the time of anger, are we able to remember the words of Allah SWT?
When we're angry, the first thing we do is speak. We say things that will get a reaction, that are meant to cause harm and assert dominance. The Prophet (saws) said, “If one of you becomes angry then he should stay silent.” At a minimal, you save yourself from regret and from worsening the situation. More importantly, if you can stay silent, you have the opportunity to sit back, cool down, and reflect. And in those moments of reflection, you may remember Allah SWT. "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Ar-Rad 13:28)
